Girls come out on top against Annan

Mirage Conference results v Annan

U15's

Today the U15 Girls travelled to Annan RFC to compete in their conference game against Annan's U15 Girls. Despite Biggar being several players down due to injury and other comitments, Annan were only able to field 11 players, so we started with two subs on the bench. Biggar started strongly, scoring within the first few minutes, then continuing to score try after try, with great support play from all members of the team.

Half time saw the score at 5 - 46 for Biggar.

The second half saw our girls continue where they left off, but a few lapses of concentration crept in, and Annan managed to score another couple of tries, converting one. Annan also started to dominate many of the rucks, and started to kick from hand, collecting the ball each time further up the field of play, despite our girls having worked on loose ball recovery, at the Monday Academy session.

Another couple of tries from Biggar saw the game brought to a close with the score 17 - 70, although it was agreed to return the final score of 17 - 54 to the SRU.

Try scorers included Katie Mcpherson(4) , Alexandra Philips (2), Cerys Forrest (2), Abigail Barrett (1), Emily Wood-Kidd (c)(1), Sammy Shaw (1) Lana Bell (1) and conversions were successful from Katie (5) and Alexandra (2).

Girl of the Game for Biggar as decided by her team mates was Cerys.

Well played everyone who pulled on the red and black today.

U18 Girls –v- Annan Hornets 28th October 2018

The U18 girls travelled to Annan for this league game but unfortunately Annan were unable to field sufficient numbers and a development game was played. The opportunity to make the best of a very bright autumn day was taken and the coaches agreed to mix up the squads with backs and forwards transferring to each other’s team. This gave all the Biggar girls the chance to play against their teammates and led to lots of tries and some robust tackling from which both squads benefitted. It also enabled all the girls to enjoy the game which was played in good spirits. Biggar player of the match was awarded to Kaylee Fraser.
