Youth rugby v Ayr

Colts

This squad sustained a pile of injuries last week and this, combined with several players falling ill, led to their match with Ayr/Wellington being cancelled.

On Sunday the Youth section also faced Ayr with the team from the west securing wins in every match.

This is one of the best youth sections in the country however so while Biggar lost out there was still lots to suggest that they have the potential and attitude to develop and improve.

U16's

In a tough physical forwards centered contest the u16s lost 43 - 24 to Ayr on Sunday. A good competative match the Biggar boys couldnt win the ball for long periods of the first half and when they did they were met with a solid line of defence which they didnt unlock often enough. Areas to work on but useful lessons have been learnt.

U13’s

The boys did really well defensively in the first half, keeping Ayr out on a number of occasions, but unfortunately they did manage to break through for a couple of tries which were converted.

The second half half was was just as tough for Biggar, but the boys did show a few good positive attacking plays that really merited more than we got. However Ayr continued their clinical rugby by running in another 3 tries, which were all converted. With little time left on the clock Harry managed to channel his frustrations into a run and try under the posts which Liam converted. The final score Biggar 4 Ayr 20 certainly doesn’t reflect on how well the boys performed and each one of them should be proud of their contribution against a much more experienced and physical Ayr side. Man of the Match was Jake Duncan.
