Biggar S1 4 Boroughmuir S1 34

A very difficult game this afternoon against a more determined and experienced Boroughmuir squad.
Not too much to mention in the first half from our boys other than some determined tackling, especially from Ander. Unfortunately our opposition were able to break through on 5 occasions, converting 3 of them. Half time, 0-18.

After some encouraging words at half time from Scott and Jordan, the lads were determined to improve on their first half performance and everyone stepped up a gear. Unfortunately so did our opposition who ran in a further 4 tries, converting them all. It would have been 5 if not for Robert who put in a great last man tackle out on the touch line.

Still not down and out our boys battled on and were rewarded when Harry finally broke through and ran in to score under the posts. Liam duly converted to bring the final score to 4-34.

Man of the match Ander

It’s not the result we were hoping for but I couldn’t be happier with the reaction from our boys. In weeks gone by, our boys would get frustrated and blame the opposition or referee. Not this weekend and it shows how much the boys have grown. We all know where we fell down on Sunday, but as Jordan and I said after the game. It’s how we pick ourselves up again!

We’ll be encouraging the boys to remember the performance, but encourage them to get their heads up and put it right.

Thanks everyone for the info on how they’re responding after games and training. On to the next one!

U16s 12-8 loss

The under 16s took part in a tough 2nd (Biggar) v 3rd in the league battle at Boroughmuir today agonisingly losing 12 - 8. The commitment structure, tackling and rucking from both sides was of the highest quality. However with Biggar camped on the Boroughmuir line for the last 5 minutes of the match with the home team giving away a succession of penalties Biggar couldnt get the ball over the line or benefit from the penalty count.

A couple of lessons to be learnt on pressing a line but a fantastic commitment and enjoyable game to watch.

Well done boys, on another day that would have been our win.
