Minis at Dumfries

On Sunday the Mini section headed for Dumfries.

P4’s played 4 x 10min matches and I made it 2 wins, 2 losses.

Dumfries are a tough side as has been proven in the past, but despite not having had a match for a while, the Biggar squad stepped up to the plate and took it too them.

There was some strong tackles from both sides, Biggar still need to focus on keeping low but in the main, the discipline only really slips when tiredness sets in.

The side had a tendency to bunch up a bit today, especially when targeting the ball carrier but this is something to work on that in training.

It will be good to see what the side can muster before a return in a few weeks time. Great effort by everyone in some trying conditions.

Thanks to all the parents for making the trip down and for your continued support!

P5’s

Goes without saying that this was always going to be a tough outing as the side has lacked game time since late November, and so it turned out to be. The side played 8 a side and 4 x 10min matches against Dumfries who had already benefitted from the last two weekends tournaments, were quite a bit bigger and were well organised.

Whilst the squally weather did not help with passing and catching Biggar lost all 4 matches but did see improvement each game. There is however a real need to focus on cutting out basic handling mistakes and developing tackling skills. All players can do this really well at training but unfortunately it did not happen today. Again, this is something that the coaches will work on and with a bit more game time, it will become the norm.

Training will be on Tuesday night at 6.15pm and we would be delighted to see as many of you there to practise..
